ABOUT BRENDA KINSEL

Hi, I’m Brenda Kinsel, an image consultant, author and owner of Inside Out—A Style & Wardrobe Consulting Company based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I’ve been matching people’s clothes to their personalities, passions and lifestyles for over 30 years. In 2009 I founded Brenda Kinsel E.T.C.—Education, Training and Community for Fashion, Style, and Image Professionals Worldwide to provide training, coaching and marketing support to emerging and established stylists and consultants in the industry.

Education has always been at the heart of my professional style. Whether I’m in the dressing room with a client, writing an article about fashion, authoring books on style, or training other image consultants, my aim is to engage, entertain, and educate at the same time. I view the ordinary act of getting dressed as an extraordinary opportunity for personal expression.

It’s been my secret desire that my books, starting with 40 Over 40; 40 Things Every Woman Over 40 Needs to Know About Getting Dressed (Wildcat Canyon Press, 1999) and through to my fifth book, Brenda Kinsel’s Fashion Makeover: 30 Days to Diva Style! (Chronicle Books 2008) would educate the public about image consulting, make the services of image consultants more accessible to the public, and perhaps be read by someone who said to herself, “I want to be an image consultant!” That people have found their life’s calling through my books has been one of my greatest joys.

My first bit of advice to anyone getting into the field is to get quality training, learn how to give VIP treatment to your clients, and find a community that shares your passion and can mentor you along. Being in this business is immensely rewarding but professionally you could feel isolated. Those professional relationships will keep you in business.

If you’d like to learn more about how to become a well-paid professional image consultant and live the life you’ve dreamed of, I invite you to start here. If you’re already an image consultant looking for great resources on furthering your career please start here.
